Application – Fall 2017

To enroll in Air Force ROTC, you must be competitively selected. The application process is a rolling cycle with two rounds of applications and a late admit process. You will not be required to submit any of the information officially (uploading copies of official forms) during the initial application cycle.

If your application is approved, you will be asked to provide copies to officially validate your application, including other information such as your birth certificate and social security card.

The basic approval process for your application

  1. Initial Application (You)
  2. Approve/Deny Application (Admissions Officer)
  3. Provide Supporting Documentation (You)
  4. Complete Additional AF Paperwork (You)
  5. Validate Application / AF Paperwork (Admissions Officer)
  6. Approve/Deny Application (Admissions Officer)
  7. You’re Admitted!

Application Rounds

Application Rounds Dates Notification*
Round 1 19 Apr – 15 Jun 30 June
Round 2 15 Jun – 11 Aug 16 Aug
Late Admit 11 Aug – Sept 1 6 Sep
Late Admit (UC Davis Only) 11 Aug – Sept 25 29 Sep

*Notifications will be sent out no later than the above dates. Most times, the student will hear earlier.

Why do we use Rounds?

We use Application Rounds to streamline the admissions process. This allows our Admissions Officers to fully vet each applicant while also allowing us to notify prospective students earlier in the summer. Applying in Round 1 or 2 will not affect your admission chances.

Late admits who are qualified have a high probability of being accepted for the Fall of 2017 semester. However, applicants may be deferred to the following semester or year if the incoming class size exceeds capacity. To ensure this is not an issue, please be sure to apply prior to Aug 11th!

When is the Next Class?

Our next application cycle is Fall 2018. Be sure to register this semester if you are planning to graduate during the 2020 academic year.

Other Important Information

In order to participate in the program, you must be able to attend all Air Force ROTC activities each week. However, you can miss 20% of activities to account for schedule conflicts (normal life events, out of ordinary school events, etc.).

The program requires roughly 6 hours per week from our Freshmen and Sophomore cadets during the school year. The activities consist of:

  • 1 hour Academic Class

As part of your application, you must indicate that you can attend the below activities each week. This is the standard schedule for a Freshman. If you are a sophomore, you will be required to take one additional class. The additional class and its available times are shown on your application.
